Having never seen this movie before, i now know why everyone has always said it was a fantastic film. It was. From the beggining at the training camp to the end that is filled with un wanted fame, you feel as though you are with the characters the whole time, fighting the war, being imprisoned and all the trageties that occur. I also enjoyed the way they filmed the movie with all the quick shots, you felt like you were there. The colors were very interesting, i personly didnt like them, it was too dark, and not enough if you ask me. I guess thats what makes it more realistic, to have all the shadow makes you again feel as though you are at war. This was a great film about team work as well but there was also even more sadness, because these men dont believe they are the heros, wich truthfully they arent, they say at one point in the movie "the true heros are the ones that are derad on that island". now this is mostly true, there were men who gave alot and made it back too.
This movie has been greatly critisized for the lack of black soldiers. spike lee who made a movie about an all black regiment was upset that clint eastwood did not have any in his movie, but hey, what can you do. In all i thought the movie was great. Great movie!

hey josh, great post! that sounds like it was a pretty interesting movie to watch. i have also heard that it is pretty realistic and makes you feel like you are there, and also very intense to watch. thats what draws me to this movie, but i havent seen it yet. i will most likely be buying or renting it soon along with "letters from iwo jima" which is basicly the same story but from the other POV of WWII, or at least thats what ive heard. i dont know much about this movie other than the basic WWII plot so i will take a closer look at it on IMDB.com-izzle. Peace!
